![]() ![]() ![]() The real irony here is that a Super Ikonta A is smaller than a Leica (well, at least when folded), and lighter, has a lens almost as good (at least if it's a Tessar), and with close to four times the negative area (even at only 6x4.5) will easily produce negatives that outperform those from a Leica. Fixed lens cameras have their places, but. A 2x3 Speed Graphic is to an Agfa Isolette as a Nikon F is to one of the cheaper grades of Canonet. In their day, Graphics were top notch pro grade cameras, many cuts about most of the pocketable folders that posters in this forum swoon over. Very strong, they're all heavier than the gear you now buy. When you get one you'll have to be strong. Think things over, educate yourself some more, and then slowly, cautiously, parsiomoniously move up to shooting 120 film. They are not the best tools for all, possibly any, tasks, but they're good enough for what I use 'em for. Please understand that I use my Graphics because they're the right size, the right price, and will sort of do. Nominal 6x7, usually but not always 2.25" x 2.75" (56 or 57 x 68 to 72), just meets Blaker's criterion. They're doomed to frustration and their pictures are doomed to being blown away by ones made on larger formats.Ģ.25" x 3.25" (nominal 6x9, actually, most of the time, 57 mm x 82 mm) is the smallest format that beats Al Blaker's criteria for the next largest film size up from 24 x 36: at least twice as large on both dimensions. They want little cameras, they want to shoot hand-held at low shutter speeds, and they want really sharp images.
